So I just noticed it has been 2 years since my husband, Jeremy had his gyastric bypass surgery. in 2006 he weight in at 435lbs. I love him but even he will say he was a big boy. This weekend I was on our company server trying to find pics my mother in law thought she had lost. I found her pics and a bunch of Jeremy pre-surgery. first here is one of him taken this summer.

I know it is a side view but once you see some of the others you will see the difference. When we started on this journey we were told that without any wieght loss he would be dead in 5 years. Okay our kids were 2, 4, and 5 there was no way I would raise them into teenagers on my own. I was freaked. They did blood work found ut he had high blood pressure, borderline diabetes and thyroid issues ontop of the sleep apnea we had just learned to deal with.
This is Jeremy at the memorial for the Oklahoma City bombing the week after my sister's wedding in March of 2006 (8 months before Surgery). Like I said big boy. At her wedding he was drenched in sweat just helping nick's cousin pull the runner down the isle.
We were ontop of the world when we got the approval letter from the insurance and started making plans. My mom came out here to help with the kids so I could stay in Fresno at the hospital with him and much as possible. My mother-in-law (LaDon) would go with me the day of surgery and sit with me. The date was set November 4, 2006.

I think this is just a random picture LaDon took one day.
So off we went at 4:30 am we had to be at the hospital at by 6 am. It is an hour drive to Fresno from our house. Jeremy had to be the first surgery of the day cause they had to do extra cleaning in the OR. Oh yeah I should mention, Jeremy has a latex allergy. When the surgery was all done Dr. Boone came out told me all was fine, Jeremy did great and that I should go get breakfast it would be 2 hours before we could see him. So LaDon and I went to eat and came back after an hour.

We came back to wait and this little old lady was at the desk telling people when they could go see their family member. When it was my turn I was told to go and meet a nurse no one else had to meet a nurse but here I was walking torwards the nurse. He told me to follow him and as we went thout he door I noticed the sign Surgical ICU. My heart sank I knew he was talking but i couldnt here him. We get to Jeremy's bedside and dot head doctor couldnt speak english very well was telling me he stop breathing in recover several time. Jeremy's ICU nurse must have read the look and my face and interjected that it was due to the sleep apena. Here is a thought Dr. dumbass lead with that info next time. Jeremy was fine but since he was in ICU i could only see him for 5 minutes every 2 hours he told me to go home.
LaDon and I drove home and i was fine until I hit my house and found my mom. She is still my rock. She listen and helped me by calling the hosptial until they moved him so we could go see him.
Within a month the diabetes was gone and his blood pressure wsa normal. by 3 months the sleep apena was gone and he stopped snoring. by 6 months his thyroid was starting to work properly again.
He is a new man and father. He plays with the kids. He dosent get tired just walking to the car. I loved him before but dare I say I love him more. I know my kids enjoy him more.

This was when we took my friend Kim up to the Sequia National Forest this summer. 2 years ago we would not have done this.
